Pakistan vs South Africa – The 4th drama! Review, review and collapse!
Match summary (detailed review)
Day 4 was an exciting day! South Africa’s batsmen were under pressure from the start of the day. Runs were hard to come by and wickets kept falling. The most interesting thing was that the string of reviews was tied – The umpire’s decision was being challenged on every other ball, but luck did not favor.
The first T. D. Zorzi and T. Stubbs both reviewed LBW decisions, but both were declared “struck down.” Umpires RJ Tucker and CM Brown’s decisions were brilliant and confident.
The Pakistani bowlers bowled at a fantastic line and length, and did not allow South Africa to play freely for a moment.
Then Dewald Brevis resisted – a brilliant 50 off just 51 balls, including 5 fours and 2 sixes. He was joined by Rickelton, and the two completed a 50-run partnership. But Pakistan regained control of the match after the drinks break.
There was a score to lunch
Then Muthusamy also took the review, but luck did not favour him – “Struck Down” again!
South Africa stood at 183/9 (60.3 overs) at the end of the day, with Simon Harmer as the last hope.
Pakistan’s bowlers – especially the fast bowlers – performed brilliantly. Offensive bowling on the one hand, discipline on the other. That proved to be the difference.
Analysis (short but meaningful)
South Africa wasted reviews like there was no dearth of chances.
Challenging the umpire’s decision on every LBW proved to be detrimental. On the other hand, Pakistan kept the match in control throughout the day with smart bowling and perseverance.
If Pakistan take the last wicket early tomorrow morning, victory will be very close to them.
